What's Happening?

CALL PROCESS BEGINNING; Constitution under review

The Call Committee is reassessing where we after the last call was declined. January 28 the congregation will be presented with options before us and a recommendation for a path. Keep informed of Call Committee updates.

The new Grace Lutheran Church Constitution was overwhelmingly approved and is in the hands of the District Constitution Committee. We will hear from them soon, probably by the Congregational Meeting on January 28. At that point, we will begin a timeline for nominations and elections to terms adjusted so that we will be able to fit the new pattern of elections in 2025. Stay tuned for more.

MUSIC iN WORSHIP

We have a full music program at Grace, including choirs, handbells, hand chimes, and instruments. We also host the Music at Grace FREE Community concert series. Every year 5-7 concerts are held featuring musical groups from the Middle Tennessee area and a variety of musical styles and artists. Every series includes at least one sacred music concert on or the first Sunday after the Epiphany of Our Lord. All concerts begin at 4 pm:

October 1, 2023: The Wannabeatles come back for another appearance to kick off the 2023-2024 season.

Nov. 5: Bach is Back! Ghostly melodies from the Master of the Organ, Johann S. Bach. Dr. Jonathan Rudy, Organist

Dec. 3: Music City Chorus - returning by popular demand for another Christmas program - and a Grinch encore?

Jan. 7, 2024: Epiphany Concert - an annual tradition to cap off the Christmas season! Sacred music performed by our very own choir, handbells, and instrumentalists.

Feb. 4: Cumberland Winds Dixieland Band - featuring familiar songs of the South with rhythm and jazz as we count down to Lent.

Mar. 10: The Elliston Trio (Violin, cello and piano) with classics from great players.

Apr. 7: Paul Rosewood: Opening for the likes of Travis Tritt, Paul brings the sound of Country to our Series for the very first time.

As always, there is no admission charge.

Bible Studies

On Sunday mornings there are several choices for adult Bible Study, including two led by the Pastors. Additional Bible study groups meeting during the week, including two women’s studies, an LWML study, and a men’s group.

Education

Sunday School for age 2 through adult meets every Sunday from 9:35 am to 10:40 am. For children, the education hour begins with a music class and rehearsal (Cherub Choir, Angel Choir, Youth Choir, and Hand chimes). Adult classes meet from 9:45-10:40 am (after coffee fellowship).

Every year a Vacation Bible School is held, usually the third week of June, for children age 2 through Middle School. Classes are generally held evenings, begin with a community meal, and the schedule goes from 5:15 pm to 8:00 pm.

Catechism Classes

A 2 1⁄2 year series of catechism classes introduce those 6th grade or older to the big story of the Bible, Luther’s Small Catechism, Christian history, and Lutheran worship. Classes begin when the public school year starts in August and finish in early May. At the end of the process is an essay, a Confirmation banquet, and Confirmation on the last Sunday in October. If you have a youth 6th grade or older, please contact the Church Office or one of the Pastors to enroll in the catechism program.

WOMEN’S GROUPS

A Lutheran Women’s Missionary League group meets monthly (except July and August) for Bible study, to plan mission projects, and to work with other LWML groups in our Zone, District, and Synod. A group of Crafty Women quilt for Lutheran World Relief as part of our support of those in need throughout the world.

JUST FOR MEN

The Men's Club of Grace Lutheran Church is for adult men of all ages and provides opportunities for fellowship, support and service.  Meeting on the third Monday of the month, they enjoy a meal together, a program, and many other activities.

Serving Others

Grace supports a host of local, regional, and larger missions – including those within our local community who serve the poor, homeless, hungry, and those in need right here. These include our Food Pantry, FUEL, Hope Pregnancy Center, Angel Tree, Loaves and Fishes, Operation Christmas Child, Urban Ministries, Food for the Poor, Lutheran Disaster Relief, Lutheran World Relief, and many more. If you would like to support these, click on the agency and you will be directed to their website or contact the Church Office for more information.

Christ be my Leader by night as by day;
safe through the darkness,
for He is the way.
Gladly I follow, my future His care, darkness is daylight when Jesus is there.

What We Believe

Lutherans are orthodox Christians who confess the Trinity and who believe in Jesus Christ, the only Son of God and perfect man, who died for all and rose to those who believe in Him eternal life. We confess the catholic creeds as faithful summaries of the Scriptures and believe the Word of God speaks without error the eternal truths of God. Lutherans joyfully celebrate the gifts of forgiveness, peace, hope, life, and salvation won by Jesus on the cross and freely bestowed through the means of grace (Word and Sacraments) to all who believe in Him.
